FOLKLORE AS A HERITAGE OF SPIRITUAL CULTURE OF THE PEOPLES OF DAGESTAN

Folklore is the collective artistic creativity of the masses, which embodies their spiritual and moral ideals, hopes and aspirations in vivid artistic images and in various genres. The role and significance of folklore heritage in the development of the spiritual culture of society at the present stage is extremely broad and multifaceted. The task of comprehensive coverage of the ideological and artistic values of folklore monuments in all the diversity of their genre and national-specific features is revealed in the long-term large-scale work "The Set of folklore monuments of the peoples of Dagestan" in 20 volumes, carried out by a team of employees of the Department of Folklore and Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The moral, ethical and aesthetic potential of traditional folklore, which is the heritage of the spiritual culture of the peoples of Dagestan, is concentrated in many volumes that have already been published, as well as those that are being prepared for publication. The purpose of this article is to consider the nature and features of the reflection of the spiritual and moral as-pects of the life of the peoples whose creativity has found artistic embodiment in the works of folklore of differ-ent genres.
