The article considers the small prose of Kamal Abukov of the post-Soviet period, notes their artistic features: orientation to typing images, appeal to forms of comism, masterful application of tropes, in particular compari-son. There are noted such signs of the evolution of the writer's work as the strengthening of the social compo-nent, the frequent appeal to negative images, which determines the critical, ironic pathos of the works.
