The article examines the moral and ethical foundations of Fazu Gamzatovna Alieva's novel "The Day of Good", it highlights the life of the small Avar village of Gvanzilav during the Great Patriotic War, its customs and traditions. In the center of the narrative is the story of a schoolgirl Halimat, whose parents went to the front, leaving her in the care of her grandmother. The novel contains many memories of the peaceful life of the vil-lagers in the past, author's lyrical digressions into the history and life of their village. The whole novel is im-bued with the idea of patriotism, moral purity, love for the Motherland, for man, for his native land.
